  • On July 20, 2008, after hosting the ESPYS, Terrell helped rescue an ESPN reporter after he was hit by a Honda Civic. The reporter was trying to hail a cab after the ESPYS when he got in the way of the car and slammed into the front windshield. Terrell Owens was the first person to help Sam Alipour, and stayed with him until the paramedics arrived. (My ESPN, July 21, 2008)
  • His favorite player growing up was Jerry Rice. He wore the number 80 on his jersey in college to honor Rice. (NFL Players Association)

His publicist, Kim Etheredge, noticed his strange behavior and called 911, and he was treated at the Baylor University Medical Center for a drug overdose.   • Owens played 16 games in 1996 as a rookie with the 49ers, recording the most starts by a 49er rookie since 1969
  • He earned his first All Pro honors in 1998. He tied for second in the NFL with 14 touchdown receptions and ranked third in the NFC, and fifth in the NFL in non-kicker points.
  • In 2000, he broke the 50-year old receiving record with an NFL record and career-high 20 receptions for 283 yards and one touchdown. He also recorded five 100-yard receiving games and earned his first Pro Bowl nomination.
  • In 2004, Owens joined the Eagles and recorded several career-best totals. He was suspended in 2005 by the team for breaking team rules and eventually deactivated for the final nine games of the season.
  • Owens joined the Cowboys in 2006 and led the NFL in touchdown receptions. After the 2007 season, he was voted to the Pro Bowl for the eighth time.

  • Owens' grandmother suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, and he works closely with the Alzheimer’s Association. He has served as a celebrity chairperson, and in 2003, he addressed Congress to request more funding for research. Terrell hosted a celebrity basketball game in his home gym in 2004 to benefit the Atlanta Chapter of the National Alzheimer’s Foundation. He also founded the Terrell Owens Catch A Dream Foundation to fight hunger and provide the resources for children to accomplish their dreams. In December 2007, he helped to raise $100,000 for 81 underprivileged families in the Dallas area for the holidays.
