- Johnson and teammate TJ Houshmandzadeh have been together since their college days at Oregon State. Together, they led the team to an 11-1 season in 2000, and a victory over Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl. Johnson and Houshmandzadeh also became the first Bengals duo to each record more than 1,000 receiving yards in the same season. The two also recorded the first duo of Bengals receivers to make the Pro Bowl in the same year. However, when Johnson began to create controversy by missing offseason practices and programs with the Bengals in 2008, announcing that he wanted to be traded, Houshmandzadeh suggested that it would be better for the Bengals to agree to trade Johnson, as he may be a distraction.
